100 trips… that’s a lot of trips. Think about it. If you could get an average of 100 trips out of a plastic pallet, what would that pallet cost you on a per-trip basis? Say for example, you pay about $80 for a brand new, heavy duty, plastic pallet and you send it out the door on 100 trips. That pallet would end up costing you only 80 cents per trip. That’s right, only 80 cents per trip. That is a great value! With that in mind, there are several plastic pallets on the market that will last for several trips. However, we feel like we have found the best pallet for extended life-span: the PM4840FP-ULTRA The PM4840FP-ULTRA plastic pallet utilizes a unique process of injecting the corners and other vulnerable areas with plastic foam that increase the pallets resistance to breakage by at least 5 times. This increased impact resistance could increase life expectancy of the ULTRA pallet by 6-10 years.
Based on industrial average standards (and given that results may vary according to operation conditions and usage), the average wooden pallet and plastic pallet lasts approximately 18 and 40 trips respectively. Based on a study conducted at the Virginia Tech Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design, the ULTRA pallet life cycle was an amazing 100 trips! That is a lot of handling, dropping, gouging and slamming by fork lifts. How can the ULTRA last so long? The answer (referenced above) is the patented inside injection foaming process which uses low pressure to inject the vulnerable pallet blocks with structural foam. This, combined with a 20 mm wall thickness, improves impact resistance 5 times over. Since the blocks hold up over time, the pallet holds up and is able to complete many, many, many trips. Not convinced? Ask us for a sample and we will be happy to show you how you can go as low as 80 cents per trip. ******************************* 2021 Update: the PM4840FP-ULTRA is no longer available.
