Fifteen years and two manufacturing facilities later, John Martin has shipped his last pallet. Nelson Company announced Martin’s retirement on Friday, June 13, 2014. John’s career highlights and work ethic are legacy-worthy. Leaving everything he knew behind, John helped open what is now Nelson’s largest manufacturing operation. Popcorn. Peanuts. Lumber Shortage. Our industry is currently dealing with an unprecedented lumber shortage. As a result, wood pallet prices are quickly rising. We are faced with a big unknown. The sales team at The Nelson Company recently discussed the future of pallets including this important question: As wooden pallets become more expensive, will other options emerge as serious contenders in the global pallet markets? The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) held its annual TransPack Forum in April. Industry experts gathered in sunny Orlando, Florida for four days of exhibits, presentations and seminars. This year there were a lot of great presentations about the most recent developments in the world of responsible transport packing and product distribution.  |
