Do you worry about moisture damage from minor flooding? Give your storage boxes a raise with plastic pallets!
- Plastic does not absorb water like a cardboard box or wood pallet.
- Plastic pallets allow air flow under your storage.
- Plastic pallets can be lightweight and easily moved.
- Plastic pallets are strong enough to handle most residential storage.
Recently, a customer came to us looking for new pallets for their basement. In the past, they lost valuables because their boxes got wet and the contents molded. We reviewed many pallets, both new and used. Our nestable pallets would have worked but if a person were to walk on them, there could be some flexing.
Knowing the customer had children we instead chose a pallet with a full perimeter bottom. Full perimeter bottom pallets have a bottom that goes around all four sides of the pallet with a cross through the middle for added strength. These pallets are sometimes called six rail pallets.
The customer had a variety of things they wanted to protect including clothing racks, boxes and appliances. They lined portions of their basement floor with used plastic pallets which not only raised the boxes over the water line but also made a very organized storage area.
