When deciding on a plastic pallet for your application, it is important to make sure that the manufacturer’s specifications meet or exceed the weight that you are placing on the pallet. This is critical as a load that exceeds the specified weight capacity of the pallet is a safety issue as well as a potential cause of product damage.
But, when it comes to plastic pallets, determining the capacity can be a bit more challenging. There are many different plastic pallet designs for specific loads and applications available. As a first step, you should understand these different load capacity definitions:
- Dynamic Load Capacity
This is the amount of weight that a pallet can hold when it is being lifted by a forklift or hand jack.
- Static Load Capacity
This is the amount of weight that the pallet can hold when it is in an immobile position such as sitting on the ground or when it is stacked.
- Racking Load Capacity
This is the amount of weight that the pallet can hold in a racking system with no support under the center of the pallet.
