Last year, Nelson’s own John Clarke was one of the speakers at the conference. This year John and other members of the Nelson Technical Center will be in attendance to soak up the sun and latest ideas of responsible transport packaging and the physical distribution of products.
We asked John what he was looking forward to the most at the 2014 ISTA TransPack Forum.
Soon I will head down to Orlando for the TransPack Forum. While I look forward to the entire three-day conference, there are five things that stand out to me as the top 5 things I am looking forward to at ISTA.
- The Technical Driving Board Meeting
I’m on the ISTA Technical board that helps plan future direction of the association. I always enjoy our annual kick-off meeting with the other board members from around the world. During the meeting, we plan the future direction of ISTA testing.
- Networking with the Packaging Industry
The performance of my pallets is directly affected by the packaging on top. The more I work with the packaging industry to understand new technologies the better I can help my customers solve packaging issues and lower pallet costs. The ISTA TransPack Forum is a great opportunity for me to network with other industry professionals.
- Pallet Presentations
There is always a great selection of presentations and speakers at the forum. This year I am particularly interested in the presentation from Virginia Tech about pallets and unit load design. My background includes 10 years at the Virginia Tech Pallet Test Lab, so I always look forward to the latest research out of Virginia Tech.
- Recycling Presentations
One of the opportunities for 2014 is helping our customers reduce waste and scrap costs. There are several presentations on recycling and sustainability that can help us with these efforts.
- Case study on Unmanned Helicopters in Afghanistan by the US Marine Corp
I am looking forward to this case study because the topic is just so cool.
